On March 10, 2022, the China General Machinery Industry Association and the China Machinery Industry Federation organized a project achievement appraisal meeting for the "Key Technology Research and Engineering Application of Circulating Water Pumps in Third Generation Nuclear Power Plants" jointly completed by Shanghai Apollo Machinery Co., Ltd. and other units through a combination of video and on-site activities in Beijing and Shanghai, The appraisal meeting was jointly chaired by Huang Li, the President of the China General Machinery Industry Association, and Sui Yongbin, the former Chief Engineer of the China Machinery Industry Federation.

Yu Junchong, an academician of the CAE Member, is the leader of the expert group of the appraisal committee. The expert group of the appraisal committee is composed of experts from China Nuclear Power Design Institute, Shanghai Society of Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Power Operation Institute (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd., Shanghai Jiaotong University, School of Chemical Engineering of East China University of Technology, China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd Composed of experts from institutions such as the Institute of Nuclear Energy and New Energy Technology at Tsinghua University.


The expert group of the appraisal committee listened to the research and engineering application report, reviewed relevant documents and materials, and believed that the submitted documents and materials were complete and met the appraisal requirements. After expert inquiry and discussion, the appraisal committee believes that the research results and series of products have independent intellectual property rights, reach the international advanced level of similar products, break foreign monopolies, and have been widely used in nuclear power projects such as "Hualong No.1", achieving significant economic and social benefits.

It is reported that the seawater circulation pump developed has been applied to 38 nuclear power units both domestically and internationally, with a domestic market share of over 80%. For the first time, frequency conversion technology has been applied to seawater circulation pumps in nuclear power plants, improving the efficiency of pump sets at multiple operating conditions.


With the continuous deepening of the localization strategy of nuclear power, it provides important practical opportunities for China's equipment manufacturing industry, and its manufacturing capacity and technical level have been significantly improved. The breakthroughs in a large number of domestic achievements not only reduce China's dependence on imported equipment and accelerate the pace of domestic substitution, but also significantly reduce the cost of nuclear power construction. The successful application of the "third-generation nuclear power plant circulating water pump" is a concrete manifestation of the significant improvement in the manufacturing level and capability of nuclear power pump equipment in China. The China General Machinery Industry Association will firmly promote the localization of nuclear power equipment, actively participate in organizing and coordinating joint research and engineering applications among relevant enterprises, carry out the localization of nuclear power equipment in a planned and step-by-step manner, and promote China's transition from a nuclear power country to a nuclear power country.
